If you enjoy classic films and the way they were advertised and promoted, in 1994 I personally published a magazine called MOVIES ON LASERDISC. This magazine is very similar
to my column on The Digital Bits, "Golden Hollywood" in which we go behind the scenes on the making of the classics and take a look at the original advertising materials and graphics used for the films. There was only one issue. The magazine is a hefty 108 page full high-quality gloss magazine, with graphic images of the original advertising art for the classic films covered, and in addition many rare publicity stills directly from the studios. Not only are there over 100 original movie ads and posters, but the front and back covers (as well as inside covers) are in full color including a center spread of the original poster art for Solomon and Sheba. Whether or not you have any interest in laserdisc, you will thoroughly enjoy the nostalgia.
The magazine featured classic movies that were being released at the time on the laserdisc format and the format of the magazine is very similar to my Digital Bits column. This issue has a very special inside look at Walt Disney's Mary Poppins featuring full-page rare photos of the premiere. The magazine was published in book-bound format. I do not have many of these left and have decided to sell the remaining copies. If you are a classic movie fan, then this magazine is for you! There was/is no other publication like it!
